The Sierra Cascades Dialog Steering Committee has decided to postpone the December 13th dialog session on the Bioregional Assessment.  A two-day session will be held instead on January 24th and 25th. Two days have been set aside to focus on two important topics: the Science Synthesis on January 24th and the Bioregional Assessment on January 25th .  You will be able to sign up for one or both of these dialogs.

The Region is working with the Pacific Southwest Research Station to integrate scientific information across disciplines to inform decisions throughout the planning process.  The Science Synthesis will be completed in December 2012.  The Steering Committee felt it important you have the opportunity to see this document and interact with the Science Synthesis Team on January 24th .

Resource planning will be completed at a scale appropriate to the issue at hand.  Some issues are best dealt with on a regional level while others at a national forest level.  The January 25th Dialog will focus on region wide conditions and trends that will be addressed in a Bioregional Assessment, i.e. an evaluation of resources to identify issues that cut across National Forests in the Sierra Nevada, southern Cascades, and Modoc Plateau.  During the fall of 2012, the Region has been preparing for the assessment phase of forest planning and will begin formally in January 2013.  This will be an opportunity for participants to help identify existing information for the Bioregional Assessment.
