New Initiative to Ensure the Long-Term Sustainability of the State Park System

The Parks Forward Commission will hold its first meeting on September 18, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30pm at the Grand Capitol Ballrooms, 1025 Ninth Street, Third Floor, Sacramento. The public is welcome to attend. The meeting will also be live webcast on www.cal-span.org and linked to the Parks Forward website at www.parksforward.com.  Meeting agenda and materials will also be posted to the Parks Forward website. Five other Commission meetings will be held between mid-November and May, 2014.  Future meeting information will be posted to the Parks Forward website at www.parksforward.com.

The 12 member Commission is tasked with developing a long-term plan for a financially sustainable and functionally relevant California State Parks system.  The Commission is expected to present its final findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Legislature in fall 2014.
