Sparks, Nev. – The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is seeking public review and feedback on its applications for Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) Cooperative Funds for the upcoming 2016/2017 grant cycle.

The Forest has submitted three preliminary applications to the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division in Sacramento that would support the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts. The first grant includes a strong emphasis on law enforcement and will fund Law Enforcement Officers and Forest Protection Officers. A Ground Operations Grant will focus on operating and maintaining OHV and snowmobile areas across the two Districts. The final grant application will focus on avalanche safety and education on the Bridgeport Winter Recreation Area.

“This process is a chance for the community to give us important feedback on these grant applications,” said Daniel Morris, Carson Ranger District Recreation Officer. “We want to ensure that we are doing the greatest good for the land and for the people in our management actions.”

The grant applications will be posted on the OHMVR website after Tuesday, March 7, 2017.  To review the submitted grant applications, navigate to the following link: http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov. Instructions for submitting comments are posted on the website.

The 30-day public review and comment period for the 2016/2017 Grants and Cooperative Agreement Program begins March 7, 2017, and ends April 5, 2017.  This period provides an opportunity for the public to review the preliminary applications submitted to the OHMVR Division for consideration during the current grant cycle. The public may provide comments to both the applicant and the OHMVR Division by emailing Daniel Morris at This email address is being protected from spambots.
