Santa Barbara Ranger District -  Lower Santa Ynez Road and Trail Closure Alert3505 Paradise Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105

(805) 967-3481 X 0

****

Due to high water levels in the Santa Ynez River Paradise Road and sediment on the road (Forest road 5N18) is closed just to the east of the First Crossing Day Use Area and the road to Sage Hill Campground (Forest road 5N43) is closed. Since the gate is closed east of the First Crossing Day Use Area there is no vehicular access to the Upper Oso Campground and the Buckhorn and Camuesa Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) routes.

In addition, the Santa Cruz trail from Upper Oso to Little Pine is impassable due to slides onto the trail due to the Rey wildlfire.

Members of the public are encouraged to exercise caution when entering areas impacted by wildfire as large portions of the burned areas are subject to rock slides, falling trees and branches, increased stream flows, debris flows, and flash floods. Sediment and debris accumulations at in streams may be unstable. Use extreme caution when crossing streams and avoid the burn area during rain or wind events. As always stay tuned to local weather and be alert.
